Under the direct supervision of a lawyer at the firm,
Maurice brings a wealth of experience as Senior Consultant. His areas of
practice include human rights, employment and labour, accessibility
standards, health and safety, and landlord and tenancy matters. Maurice has
spent over 40 years in the public sector, including 23 years as a municipal
councillor. He represented Ward 1 for 21 consecutive years from 1985-2006
and returned to the council in 2016.
Maurice has served as Acting Mayor,
President of Durham Regional Non-Profit Housing, Vice President of
Veridian, Chair of Sustainable Pickering and Co-Chair of Pickering Ajax
Transit. Maurice’s career outside of the council chamber included work in
community advocacy and human rights as Managing Director for Human Rights,
Diversity and Fairness.
Maurice graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto and performed graduate work in social service.
