Compliance with Ontario’s Accessibility Standards

All organizations — including public, not-for-profit and private sectors —must comply with the Government of Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), 2005. The act sets mandatory standards on accessibility in all areas of daily life that will remove barriers.

The five accessibility standards are:

  1. Customer service
  2. Employment
  3. Information and communications
  4. Transportation
  5. Design of public places

Effective in 2015, the Integrated Accessibilities Standards Regulation requires that all organizations with at least 1 employee must be compliant and establish policies that relate to the practices of your business.

There are different requirements dependent upon how many employees work for your organization. Visit the Access Ontario website to learn more.
